Yesteryear’s Greatest Era – The Golden Age of Hollywood

When someone speaks of the golden age of Hollywood, it’s a best bet that they are speaking of the very beginnings of Hollywood and of the movie industry that is prevalent and widespread as we know it today. Many of these movies, actors, actresses, directors, and even studios created a dynasty that is still going strong as it was when it first come about around the 1920s.

This golden age is usually regarded as the time period from the emergence of the ‘talkies’, the first movies that had sound and speaking parts; quite a big departure and monumentus occasion during the time of the silent movies and films. The end is when the medium of television began it’s true emergence in around 1959; thirty years of Academy celebrated names and titles.

A younger generation may not know the names of Humphrey Bogart, James Cagney, or Cary Grant, but it is assured that they know the quotes from their films or they know the titles that made them famous. The generation that came after the golden age and on may not know the names, but they most definitely know the techniques and plots of some of Hollywood’s most celebrated titles. After eighty years since the time frame in which the talkies began, not only are audiences still remembering these films, but are still watching them.

Even the youngest of the young has seen “It’s a Wonderful Life” at least once during Christmas and mystery fans count “The Maltese Falcon” as one of the biggest and of course, even if you can’t recall sitting down and watching it, a good majority of people know the most famous lines from “Casablanca”. The reason this period of film history is so iconic is because the films encased within are so iconic. How is it that nearly eighty years later people, fans and otherwise, can clearly recount lines from movies produced and premiered before they themselves had been thought of, before even their parents probably had been thought of? These movies and these actors, actresses, directors had something within them and their performances, in their characters, and in their movies that have stood the test of time. There has never been a second Golden Age and their likely will not be, as the first was being golden.

The movie based site http://www.finemoviesonline.net has a large variety of movies that took place within this time frame, all freely licensed to the public for viewing enjoyment. There you can view different films and classic cartoons from the era, with more being added on a fairly updated schedule.

There is a reason these films have stood the test of time and there’s a reason why when we have reached the age of 3030, that these movies will still be a part of Hollywood’s golden age.
